Spicy Tamarind Mezcal Margarita

Spicy Tamarind Mezcal Margarita

Bold, tangy, and properly spicy.

Ingredients (1 cocktail)

  • 50 ml Los Primos Mezcal (40%, 100% wild cuishe)
  • 25 ml fresh lime juice
  • 20 ml Cointreau (or quality triple sec)
  • 15 ml tamarind syrup (recipe below)
  • 2 to 3 thin serrano slices (jalapeño for milder)
  • Optional: 2 dashes saline (or a small pinch of salt)

Method

  1. 1.Add serrano to a shaker and gently press once or twice (don't over-muddle).
  2. 2.Add mezcal, lime, Cointreau, tamarind syrup, and ice.
  3. 3.Shake hard for 10 to 12 seconds.
  4. 4.Double strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.

Garnish (optional)

Lime wheel + a thin serrano slice.

Rim (optional)

Mix 2 parts salt + 1 part Tajín (or mild chili powder).

Quick Tamarind Syrup

Stir together 1 part tamarind paste or concentrate + 1 part hot water + 1 part sugar until smooth. Strain if needed, then cool.

Cuishe High Desert Paloma

Crisp grapefruit, lime, and a light mineral finish.

Ingredients (1 cocktail)

  • 50 ml Los Primos Mezcal
  • 20 ml fresh grapefruit juice
  • 15 ml fresh lime juice
  • 10 ml agave syrup (1:1 agave + warm water)
  • Optional: 2 dashes saline (or a small pinch of salt)
  • Top: chilled soda water

Method

  1. 1.Fill a highball with ice.
  2. 2.Add mezcal, grapefruit juice, lime juice, agave syrup (and saline if using).
  3. 3.Stir briefly to combine.
  4. 4.Top with soda water and give one gentle stir.

Garnish (optional)

Grapefruit peel or a grapefruit wedge.

Smoked Cucumber Serrano Gimlet

Smoked Cucumber Serrano Gimlet

Bright, fresh, and spicy with a clean mezcal backbone.

Ingredients (1 cocktail)

  • 50 ml Los Primos Mezcal
  • 25 ml fresh lime juice
  • 15 ml simple syrup (1:1 sugar + water)
  • 3 to 4 cucumber slices
  • 1 to 2 thin serrano slices (adjust for heat)

Method

  1. 1.Add cucumber and serrano to a shaker and gently muddle (just to release juice).
  2. 2.Add mezcal, lime juice, simple syrup, and ice.
  3. 3.Shake hard for 10 to 12 seconds.
  4. 4.Double strain into a chilled coupe (or into a rocks glass over a large cube).

Garnish (optional)

Cucumber ribbon or a thin serrano slice.
